I'm sure that, by now, you have seen the palm programs that don't really do anything and are just for fun, right? Well, one such program is called Tricorder. And it is what it says it is, which is, a replica (as close as one can have on the palm) of a starfleet issued tricorder from STAR TREK. This was the first program of its kind that I had on my palm. Later on in my life I read a post on the palmgear page of this app asking for a color version. I took this challenge seeing that no one else was going to and downloaded the app. I successfully added color to this app and it is now available here for download. I have the permission of this application author to re-release this application.
Tricorder Screen Shots The color is a little rich in this screen shot because of the use of the Palm OS Emulator (POSE)
Now if you want to see the before and the after of Tricorder (I left the black and white version unchanged) You can, using this app, see the underlying black and white portions of ALL your Palm OS programs. I like this little program and have NOT changed it in any way. (I couldn't even if I wanted to.)
A modification to PocketC's graphics form allows for easier creation of palm apps with that program that have no use for the title bar. Simply open PocketC with the RsrcEdit and delete the offending GRAPHICS title from form #1500.
And now for a rant... every page has one somewhere!
My rant focuses and takes shape around the Palm OS program called PalmFighter! I first LOVED this program. It is the first flight simulator for the Palm OS. After viewing this program, I noticed some grammar errors and so took it upon myself to help this Russian friend in correcting the errors. He used these corrections and recently, following my suggestions, created a color version. This is all good, but I also noticed that there were NO icon sets for this program. DON'T YOU JUST HATE THAT? It's as if the creator of the program just didn't care enough to add the icons that make it less mundane to the user on the applications screen. So, you know what I did? I created TWO icons both in color and in black and white. I even implemented them into the game for him. I sent this to him and he has not, as of yet, taken advantage of them. It has been quite a while now. I would ask that everyone who reads this to ask Dmitry Popov, the creator of PalmFighter, to implement these icons. Go to his website to do this!
Anyone interested in seeing the icons can get a new color DEMO version of the game with the icons here. (You should use toggle to see the black and white versions of the icon sets!)
